Up until now all I have ever done is custom items but now I have a few products the I want to make up bunches at a time with common names on them to sell at craft shows. My plan is package them so they hang from long peg board hooks. With 10 to 20 on each hook the problem is I can't just punch a hole in the top of the packaging because if I did if someone wanted one of the names that is at the back of the hook in order to get it they would have to remove all of the ones in front of it then replace them all once they got the one they were after. To get around that problem on my prototype packaging I have been cutting hanging hooks with the laser but that is slow and ties up the laser.

What I am looking for is a punch that cuts the notch for me. Through searching Google I haven't found anything but since I don't know what it is called I am not sure what to search for. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be a big help.

Here is one of my test ones that was cut on the laser.

I am kind of leaning towards something like that, but I really would like to avoid the extra height that using tab like that would cause.

Edit: I may go with something like what you linked to but to avoid the extra height punch a rectangular hole in the top of the card that way the top of the plastic hang tag is at the same level as the rest of the packaging. Using the plastic tags will also probably make the packaging hold up better as well. Thanks for your suggestion.

So what is this made out of? Couldn't something like a press die cutter work for you? Someone would need to mill the die but a standard arbor press would make short work out of most materials. http://www.dakecorp.com/products-detail.asp?page=Single%20Leverage is a simple press but these type of cuts are made every day in printing, mfg etc..

It is just a piece of folded over card stock. I really don't think it is worth the expense to make a die to make that cut but since it is commonly used on items that are hung on peg board I was hoping that there was an off the shelf punch that would work.
