Growth spurt at my age!

I can't believe it: I'm going through a growth spurt. Up until two years ago, I've worn a size 9:1/2 shoe. Now when I buy shoes, I have to buy a size eleven! One problem though, the 9:1/2's I got at home still fit fine. Must be the metric system.

I'm finding the same phenomenon - broken in house shoes fit perfectly.
New shop shoes (Crocs) a full size larger.

I would have thought bigger feet would mean my knees hurt less.

Lady at the shoe place told me as you age, your feet actually do get longer and wider, something to do with the way your feet structure changes, bones, ligaments, cartilage and lower fat content.

Also, did you change the brand of shoes you are wearing? Each brand of shoe or sneaker runs a little different. For instance, I take an 8 in a Dexter walking shoe, but a 9 in a Nike runner. A large change in weight will also affect foot length.

I've had the same problem. Went from 10-1/2 to size 11-1/2 - 12? But then I find a pair of shoes on the discount rack at Penneys. They are the same as a pair I had once bought. Size 10-1/2 fit perfectly.:confused:

Actually, my feat haven't gotten longer, but they have gotten wider. They say having the area over the ball of the foot splay out a bit isn't uncommon.

I've purchased the same brand and model of shoe for over 10 years now. I just get the 10 1/2 wide and they always fit. They last 18 months to 2 years as they are worn almost every day. It is hard to find a lot of wide shoes so when I find something I like I keep buying the same shoes.
