I was recently asked by a colleague at work if I had "anything like a box suitable for my husband for our 5th wedding anniversary" and that he liked "things that were natural". I like a challenge and so I dug through my wood pile and came up with this:
231656231655231657
Box is mesquite, cut green 12 mths ago, approx. 5" diameter and 4 1/2" high. Finish is 2 coats of Danish Oil, buffed and waxed. Apparently the recipient thought it was really cool!

Kelvin, this one certainly is different from those boxes we normally seen done!! Very appropriate, and very well done. I like it!!

Man - that is cool! Great job on hiding the lid/body junction! I am sure that your customer was thrilled with this! Nice work!

Nice work; I really like that box. You did a good job making the joint and keeping the bark.

Good looking box Kelvin. I had to go back to the first picture again to look for the joint.
