OK, I'll admit my eyes don't see that well down in the dark bowels of my Helix, making manual focus difficult, so I taped a sliver of wood to the manual focus clip, and now I can see the slightest movement when the clip makes contact!

Looking for any helpful "best practice" hints you folks have out there...

I press my index finger and middle finger of my left hand over the two pins that secure the focus tool in place. As I bring the table up with my right, I feel for the pressure of the tool against my fingers on my left hand. When I first feel the pressure, I put the table down one press on the down direction arrow and that's it.

TroTec has a device that drops off the head as soon as it touchs the surface to be engraved. Of course it is a measured length to the appropriate lens in use. Seems like a small knotch cut of the side of the head fixture and a laser cut hanger would work as an after market modification.
