Not sure this is a gloat, but my big four-oh gift to myself arrived today - a panel gauge and a marking gauge from Hamilton Woodworks. I bought matching cherry, something different from other stuff in the workshop yet matching each other.

It's only gloat-worthy if you got it for a handful of magic beans.
Otherwise, it's a wise purchase, appropriate for a man of advancing years.
You'll know when you've arrived at Geezer city;
You'll be called "Sir" by someone at the grocery store,
the Newspaper will switch to smaller print,
you'll start traveling with a dog the size of a hamster.
Tick-tick-ti...ck
PS - I'm pulling out of Geezer city, enroute to Dusty Chaps, I can tell because they handed me a magnifying glass to carry in my pocket so I can use my phone.

Never fear! We can still turn this into a gloat. If you sold them to me for $20 each, there would definitely be a gloat involved.

Gloat away! Any tool you're proud and excited to own is a tool worth gloating about. Happy birthday sir!

Don't listen to the "bean-counters" <g>; that's tool porn and to me it's definitely worthy of a gloat! :)
Before somebody explodes, I'm just teasing Jim with the bean-counter reference.. while stating my opinion. :cool:
Others mileage may vary..

Thanks, everyone. It wasn't meant as a stealth birthday announcement, but I appreciate all the wishes.
Jim, I got it for a relatively large handful of magic beans, which is to say "asking price". I think the gloat part is that I got it and was still able to show it off to SWMBO without any discomfort. :D The amusing thing for me about making it this far is how much more frequently I get carded than I did 5 years ago. I laugh, but happily pull out the ID...
