Most here would guess this of me, but nothing stays on my ways for more than a few minutes. I blow off everything intermittently as I work, having heard too many of these stories when I first started turning.

Don't cut up a wet blank on the bandsaw and leave the cut offs on the lathe bed either. Don't ask....... :)

Don't leave it chucked up in a nice new Super 2 nova either. If you look now it's not shiny any more, words to the wise.:(

Try PG2000 and a scotch brite I been using the PG2000 for a few months now and like it ALLOT better then WD40. It's actually a metal to metal lube and it works great on the ways, the tool rest and tail stock move freely but only when you wont them to.Works good for cleaning to.

Yup - always a problem when turning green wood! Used to have to scrub the bed down and even the chuck jaws after every turning session and apply some wax to keep things from rusting!

I got a nice piece of red oak crotch from Jeff Nicol and of all the green wood turning I've done none was as rust promoting as this wood.I had to keep the ways clear and use WD40 the entire time I was hollowing an urn.

.........Used to have to scrub the bed down...........
Steve, I'm guessing with the new lathe, this could be taken as a small gloat.
