Just picked up a little under 600bf of 4/4 White oak for just a bit over $600. Some boards are over 16" wide most are 8" - 13"
Good Score?

You could sell 1/3 of that and make back your outlay, nice haul.

You wouldn't want that stuff, Dave - it's "California Oak" a hybrid of Redwood and Cannabis.

Notice that the front wheels of his vehicle are still on the ground. Light weight, and bug infested no doubt.
He should glue it up for silhouettes...I think a line of yard art signs (http://www.ryngargulinski.com/yardart1.htm) including "Beware of Hamster" is in the offing.

This is less than I paid for a lift of "get it outta heya" oddballs at Downes and Reader clearance last year.

600 bd ft of WO for $600.00 would definitely be a killer deal.

What I don't understand though... is how the pickup is sitting. 600 bd ft of WO weighs around 2,400.00 lbs. Considering how much is hanging out the back of the truck, your back tires should be bulging big time and the front end should be pretty light.

That was my thought as well. But enlarging the photos, counting the boards and their average width, it comes pretty darn close to 600 bd ft. Nice score.

The truck bed dropped down about 6 inches with it all loaded. the truck is a f250 super duty v10 crew cab long bed, so it has alot of front weight to keep it balanced. it was the smoothest ride home ever!

The reason why it was so cheap is that it was "Sticker shadowed" basically it has tan lines from the sticker blocks during the drying process on the faces of the boards. however since these boards are a full 4/4 rough, as soon as its run threw the planer the marks are gone!

Its flat sawn. wish it was QSWO but for that price im not complaining!

I can get more than a dollar a foot selling a white oak log at the sawmill.

how is it with the v10? milage when loaded? i never understood why you would get a huge gas engine when you could get a a desiel, but never had the chance to ask someone who got the v10

its not super bad i guess. i get about 12 - 20mpg for daily driving. i don't really load it up a lot, so i don't know what it would get under those conditions. I bought the truck back in 2002 and gas was a whooping $1.25 a gallon so really did not care about it to much then. now whenever possible we are usually taking the wife's corolla.

we have the 250 superduty desiel, 2003. we have the extanded cab and a cap on the back. on the highway it gets about 18 mpg, when we pull our 8,000lbs camper it gets 14pmg. alot of the amish construction companies around here have the v10s, but their trucks are normally loaded over capacity or almost are, the once or twice i asked them they said they get 8 or less mpg.
