Thought you folks that make pens might enjoy this one. I wanted a good pen press--- something that was solid and did not flex. Here's what I came up with and what I used for a pattern.
Way to many hours spent but what the heck, small price to pay for a good homemade tool. Made from 3/4 drill rods 8 inchs long setting on Bronze bushing--- total of three.

Jim I knew I was only going to build one of these because of the time involed---so I just started at one end and went from there. I had to remake the linkage arm a couple times to get the right stroke.
Here's a better pic.

Nice looking fixture Gary and it sure looks like a lot of time would be required....and patience.

Nice work Gary. I am just going to start making pens - got some stuff last week. I have always heard the ones you buy are cheesy. Yours looks heavy duty.

Nice job! Homemade tools are alway good. This is a drawing of a pen press I made several years ago that has worked well for me.
