I am about to order this set but wanted to hear what people thought about the option to get the 1200 instead of the 1000. Which one did you go with and what do you think about it? The 1200 is a bit more expensive and I am curious if it is worth it or not. All my plane blades and chisels are 01 and A2 by the way.

Yes, I think the extra expense of the 1200 is worth it. In fact, I bought the 1200 after having used the 1/6/13 set for the last year. It's harder and tends to bite harder thereby cutting faster. Now, it's not that much faster, but it is that much harder and resistant to dishing. The luxury stone is the 13k. The Sig 6000 is so good that it makes the 13k almost unnecessary--almost. But for end grain, the 13k is sweeeeettttt!

Thanks Archie! I went with the 1200.

Water stones! Tools from Japan sells a set of power sigma stones (1000-6000-13000). I should have put more detail in my original post but I have seen them mentioned here and other woodworking sites so much I assumed I was the last to find out about them :)
