Thuya burl box 2.75" diameter and 2.25" tall. Dogwood box with a desert ironwood insert 2.75" in diameter and 2.50" tall.

For a long time I used CA glue for the inserts, but over time I had too many failures and they came loose. I took great pains in surface preparation too, making sure they were free of natural oils etc., now I use PVA. While not as convenient time wise, they do last. The last straw came when I had a left over insert fall off a glue block while it was sitting on a shelf!

Very nice. I like that they are shorter and still practical. The insert is a nice touch.

Nick, your postings are making me want to do some boxes!! I really enjoy seeing what you do, and the dogwood is really, really nice!

I agree on the CA. I use it now only for filling of cracks, voids, etc. and for the occasional repair of a spot. It just does not seem to have long term reliability IMO. I know others use it faithfully, but I am afraid of it in structural situations.

Nick,
I have never done boxes, but after seeing these I might try one. These are all very very nice . I think I like all of them the best.....

Great looking boxes Nick. The wood is great but the subtle details make them outstanding IMO!
