View Full Version : Walnut Urn Antler Finial

I am still learning how to make urns even though I always have several orders for them.
This one is 6 1/2" W X 5 1/2" T with a 3 1/2" antler cut off and the lid is a chunk of burl Jeff Nicol gave me.
Hand hollowed with Trent Bosch tools and finished with rattle can lacquer.:cool:

Jeff, that is a very interesting application for the antler! I have seen them as legs, but not as finials. Seems to work with this one. Did you darken the antler? I see some that are darker, depending on what the deer has been rubbing, or if it was from a harvested deer vs. a shed.

Very nice form, Jeff.............even though I am a hunter, I don't find the antler finial particularly pleasing to my eye.........others may love it, but it is nice work for sure!
