I was wondering if there were any wood turners on this forum that are located on Maui?

Thanks

The AAW (http://www.woodturner.org/community/chapters/members.pl?submit=Chapter+List) doesn't list a Maui chapter, although there is one on the big island and one on Oahu. But you might check with either or both regarding folks they may know in "your neck of the woods", as it were. I do know of a wonderful flat woodworker on your beautiful island...Mats Fogelvik (http://www.fogelvik.com/)...does great work! He may know of some local turners. And, of course, there is the amazing Ron Kent in Kailua.

Jim,
Thanks. I know Mats. I was a member of the Maui Guild for a VERY short time before moving back to the mainland for a two year experiment, then moving back to Maui.... FOREVER!!!!!!!!!

I'm jealous of your move! Dr. SWMBO and I thoroughly enjoyed Maui a few years back. Incredibly beautiful place with more micro-climates than you can shake a hula skirt at! :D Of course, it's not inexpensive to live there, either...goes with the territory; they always have trade-offs.

Hi Chuck,

I was on Maui last January and couldn't get anyone to admit they were turners there. I did go to Hilo for a Big Island turners club meeting. What a hoot. My first turning meeting and what a great group of people.

If you are still on Maui the next time I visit I hope we can get together. I will be on the Big Island in December for 10 days.

Howzit Bradda Chuck, Maui No Ka Oi. Alot of good people come from Maui. My Dad is a Maui Boy, Born and raised there and so was his Parents. They both passed away when he was 5yrs.He moved from sister to sister, and dormed at the Kamahamaha Schools on Oahu. And this is where I'm at today, hanging with some of the woodturners on Oahu. Majority of them are retired, and these guys turn every chance they get. Retirement and Good health, That's Sweet... i maui da bes Aloha>>:D
