This bowl is about 8 inches across the wide points. I have been meaning to make something like this and finally got around to it. I was trying for an illusion that looked like the edges had been bent into shape after turning. Finish is lacquer; not sure how much gloss I will leave once the lacquer is cured.

I adjusted the colors of these photos somewhat, neither is quite right but the top view is the better of the two.
Comments and critiques welcome.

That is so much carving, that worked so well, that I think your dream is fulfilled! Beautiful work Dennis!!

Very well done. I really like it. I'd like to try that kind of carving on a hollowform.

That is one fine piece, Dennis!!! Super work on that wavy edge, and you seemed to be able to blend the turned part with the carved part and not leave any trace of the two separate processes............NICE!!!

Dennis,
That's one to be proud of. I can't even imagine how much time you spent sanding this bowl but the results are worth the effort.

Very nice, Dennis!! I would love to see one like this with a shallow ogee form! Hint, hint!;) Perhaps just a little less depth of carving on the shallow bowl - on this one it works perfectly.

Very nice work Dennis! The rim and the feet both look great. I tried a smaller 5 in and 5 out recently and felt like it might be my first and last of those. Seeing 12 of each on yours:eek: just makes me shake my head!:) Well done!

Hey, that's what my bowls have looked like lately...of course, that's just because they've warped so bad! I should call them Pie Crust bowls, thanks Dennis. ;)

Very nice turning Dennis. You should be proud of that one.

Nice job Dennis. It looks like you have been listening to Ken too much and gone to messing up your good turnings with all the carving and hand work. When are you going to start poking holes in the perfectly good turnings? In any case, your art form is showing.

Super bowl. Dennis has a new form a week. He makes it hard for us mere woodturners to sell anything in this county.

Ooh! I like this Dennis.
But I think I would like it better without those beautiful legs. The scallopped pie shell may present itself a little better if "squatty
A look that we usually try not to have
