Here's a few more boxes.
From left to right: cocobolo, piquia amarello, walnut (Sorby Spiraling Tool), Madagascar rosewood. The single beaded box is walnut

They are all 2" + or - in diameter and 2 1/2 - 3" tall.

Comments appreciated!

How do you get the multiple leads on the spiral box?

Fantastic work, Nick - all of them!! I agree with the others on the spiral walnut, but I the beaded walnut is neat, too.

Nick,
I can't imagine how you did the spirals but I would enjoy reading the process. My favorite is the beaded box however, I enjoyed seeing all of them.

Nick,
What a great variety of boxes. I like them all but the walnut is my favorite of the group. Great form and style on all of them. Well done.

Thanks for all the kind words!

For Faust and others:

The spiraled walnut box was done with the Sorby Spiraling Tool. You do the spirals first and then part the lid off and do the hollowing. If you use a narrow parting tool the join is barely noticeable. Your tenons need to be sized small enough that you can traverse the spiraling tool without hitting the chuck. Practice on some scrap first and you'll soon be proficient. The first one I made I parted the top off as normal and then tried to spiral it. Even with the lid jammed on tight, it won't work as the lid loosens. After both pieces are hollowed and sanded it's just like any other box to finish it up. I did ease the top and bottom edges a little and that seemed to blend the spiral in.

adore the beaded & the spiral..thanks for sharing the info on the spiral. I was unaware that the Sorby would spiral that deep. All the boxes show great care.
