I had three bay cut offs that were unrelated (G) so I glued them together and tried a
compote. The bowl part isn't too bad, but I quit too early on the bottom part. My wife
liked it that way it is, but I thought it need to be lightened quite a bit. Too chunky.
However it is sitting on a shelf and seems content.

I agree with you Don. If the center post had been thinner it would have been more "artsy." But I've also learned not to argue with women! Either way it looks good and you know the cat won't knock it over.

BTW, what is bay?

Adding to Harry's comments, the thickness of the bottom layer is a little more than the rim of the compote bowl, although not a whole lot. I seriously doubt that most folks will notice, however, since this piece is very attractive in so many ways!

I like the nice solid look the base gives the compote. Nice job keep them coming.
