Just A Walnut Bowl

My Dad brought me a small log about a year ago and I set it aside and kind of forgot about because it had some really bad checking on the ends. When I was trying out my new chainsaw the other day I came across that log and decided it would be fair game for my new saw. It had been sitting out in the weather for a year so I figured it was way too gone to be any good. I was pleasantly surprised to find this inside:

It's Black Walnut with Mahoney's Walnut Oil finish followed by Mahoney's Wax. I had a lot of tearout on the end grain on this piece.

Nice picture Jason..........how about a couple that show the bowl outside of the shavings? That would give us a look at how you finished off the bottom. Looks good from the pic you have......looks like you are staying busy!

Roger, I can't show you the bottom of the bowl. Then you will see all my other mistakes! lol "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!" Just kidding... I will take a few more shots from some different angles.

What size is it?

It's about 6" in diameter. I'm working on a few more pics. Right after the first pic was taken a huge thunderstorm came and I retreated indoors.
