I posted a while back a bank I made from some walnut I had left that I just could not pitch out.
Well I did it again, just used more scrap from the scrap bucket.
But the thing of it is you can learn a lot from those little projects.
Design is the first thing you have to do and then once you have that you have to implement it.
On this one I learned about setting the angle on the table saw and how to get it just right, I always have problems with angles.
How to make sure I had the wood all prepared for a glue up, the exact right size and clean.
Ways to glue up different things other then just squares, like the ends of the bank.
Routing angles on the top of the bank.
Routing angle on the base.
Then there is the finishing, this is were I learned a lot about getting a good bright finish, smooth and shiny.
I guess as being still a newbie in this art I have found that I really learn a lot by just doing little things like the banks. These project don't have to be a complete redo of the kitchen or a new entertainment center but you can learn form them anyway.
You just have to let your mind wonder a little and get out the scrap and do something with it.
