Fein Turbo II vacuum with 1 1/4 hose - great product except for what seems to be a lack of adapters into 2 1/2 connection points. I have the soft adapters for attaching to tools. Has anyone found solutions for upsizing into larger ports / attachments? Some reviews in online sites [Rockler, etc...] have note about what would read to be correct adapters by size not fitting Fein. I'd really like to get this machine tied into our bandsaw and router table fence.

Buy this http://www.amazon.com/Fein-921120AG13-2-1-4-Inch-Hose/dp/B0002ZIDYS, problem solved. Adapting up from a 1 1/4" tool hose to a 2 1/4" hose is going to restrict the air flow in a bad way and choke out the machine. Get the bigger hose for bigger ports, it works well, save the small hose for machines with a small port.

Precisely, the Turbo I & II come with 1.25" hose for small stuff and the Turbo III comes with 2.25" hose for bigger stuff.

Two solutions for most uses: Buy a large & small Fein so you have both sizes OR if you buy one size Fein Vac then buy the other size hose for what it does well.

Neither one works well for everything. If you are only going to use the big hose for occasional use with stationary tools, cheap shop vac hose works pretty well and costs much less.

The 1 1/4" hose has a locking end connector which looks like this. The ends of the 2 1/4" hose linked above are different (friction connectors, I assume?). Will the 2 1/4" hose work on the Turbo I and II vacuums?

It appears you will also need this adapter. In fact you might just buy the adaptor and see if a cheap vac hose from the Borg would work with it.

The small Fein hose has a hard end and locks in with a hard pin that rides in that groove. It can rotate at that connection so that the hose does not get tangled. The large Fein hose does not have the locking collar but it is a softer plastic that locks into the vacuum. It has a rotating collar built into the hose.

The vacuum connections on my 20 year old Fein, my 4 year old Turbo II and my new Turbo III are all the same. There is no adapter required.

You can also plug in the 2.25" hose from a normal shop vac - no adapter required. The Fein hose is much nicer - more flexible and much better made - and more expensive. For use as a shop vac, you might want to buy the Fein hose even if you hook it to shop vac tools at the end. For use with a stationary machine, the $20 hose from the BORG works great.

For additional info: I also use Festool hoses in the Feins. They plug in perfectly. I prefer to use the Festool non-antistatic hose to hook to a Festool sander as it works better to not have adapters and other nonsense on the sander end of the hose.

+1 The opening on the vacuum itself is industry standard. So, don't try to adapt up at the tool end, get a 2 1/4 hose and adapt down at the tool.
