View Full Version : Tree Species ID?

Any ideas what type of tree this was? Storms knocked this down just north of Chicago a couple days ago (mid-April, buds just openening). Live tree, freshly sawed into chunks like this. Keys are in the pictures for size reference.

FYI: I'm planning to use this as a place upon which to pound things in the shop. Bark comes off and the top and bottom get flattened this weekend. Related thoughts or suggestions welcome.

Looks like my Mountain Ash in the front yard. Make sure there are no Asian Long-Horned Beetles in it.

I think it might be from skyline locust tree. The little twigs are the same as the tree in my backyard.

Green Ash I live about 400 miles south of you and it's everywhere
