I just picked up a new (Remanufactured) Ryobi 13' Thickness Planer at the Cummins Traveling Tool Show yesterday. I am upgrading from my old Ryobi 10" that I have had since '93 and it has been a very good machine, so I hope this one will be at least 1/2 the machine that the old one was. More times than not when I was working on a project, I needed 12" pine planed to 1/2" or 5/8" and I have just gotten sick of having to biscuit the darn things together.
Cost new at Home Depot: $250.
Cost at the tool show: $199.99.
I paid $250 for the planer in '93, so I figure I got a decent deal and with the remanufactured unit, I know it has been gone over pretty well.
I have a bunch of wood to plane for Pen & Pencil boxes, I'll do a little report on how it performs for you guys!
