I just picked up a new (Remanufactured) Ryobi 13' Thickness Planer at the Cummins Traveling Tool Show yesterday. I am upgrading from my old Ryobi 10" that I have had since '93 and it has been a very good machine, so I hope this one will be at least 1/2 the machine that the old one was. More times than not when I was working on a project, I needed 12" pine planed to 1/2" or 5/8" and I have just gotten sick of having to biscuit the darn things together.

Cost new at Home Depot: $250.

Cost at the tool show: $199.99.

I paid $250 for the planer in '93, so I figure I got a decent deal and with the remanufactured unit, I know it has been gone over pretty well.

I have a bunch of wood to plane for Pen & Pencil boxes, I'll do a little report on how it performs for you guys!

Kurt,

Good luck with the new addition. I've had good luck with reconditioned tools. They usualy go over them pretty good. Glad to see Cummins is on the road again. Hope they come down to Mass. soon. I love them for odds and ends and shop supplies.
