I have a Delta X5 15" planner and I am swapping out the factory head for a new Byrd helical head.
2 main questions;
1. Does anyone know the exact bearing size/description for this planner?
2. Has anyone done this swap and therefore might have some light to shed on the subject?

Which bearing are you referring to? If I remember there are multiple. I didn't change my cutterhead but did have to remove it to repair a gearbox oil leak. Mine was a DC380 which I think is still basically the same. Try going to the Byrd website they have a pretty good tutorial on changing out the head.

Thanks Robert I will try the Byrd site. The bearings that I am replacing are the ones that support the cutter head. Any idea as to what they are?

Sorry, I can't do a direct link to thread here, but if you will google "Changing the head on a Delta DC-380 planer," the first reference that will pop up has bearing sizes listed. It's a thread here.
