Folks:
After condemning the factory included mobile caster system and building an elaborate new mobile base and getting the local fire department to lift the saw up onto the base, I took a little time to inspect the "bent" mounting studs on the factory casters.
They were not bent--just the height-adjusting pinch nuts had loosened and the casters were flopping around and LOOKING bent.
Here is a possible fix for what is still an inadequately strong set-up:
-Remove caster set from saw base
-Obtain perhaps a dozen EXTRA nuts of the size supplied
-Set up the caster set on the saw base FILLING IN any space (there will be up to 1.0") with the extra nuts.
So my apologies to Hitachi, but they still could make the included mobile base system a true "$50 value" by adding a little beef at a couple of points.
