I have an older delta contractors saw with a unisaw fence system installed but want to upgrade to a cabinet model. Found an approx. 7yr old Unisaw X5 with 54" Biesmeyer fence on CL but was wondering what the X5 series has or doesn't have when comparing it to the standard Unisaw models. The saw also has a jessem sliding table with it. Person is asking $1200. Seems like a good deal. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks for your help. :)Steve

I believe the about the only difference was the X5 model came with a 5 year warranty. I really like my JessEm slider.

The X5 Unisaw also came with two cast iron wings while some (if not all) standard Unisaws came with only one (for the left side) wing.

They got it right, fancy name, longer warranty, and some extra cast iron. Sounds like a decent deal.

All I can say is stick with it and review the ads even the odd ones often. I recently picked up a 1992 Right tilt unisaw with 52" fence and a 8" DJ-20 jointer for $1,000 both in really nice shape. Several months earlier I picked up five really nice Lie-Nielsen plans for $600. Only one was listed in the ad and it was misspelled and the sentence that it was in literally had no spaces just a bunch of characters stringed together.

Another tip is to ask folks selling nice equipment what else they have or would sell. I've purchased items that have never seen the light of Craigslist only because I asked or told them I was in the market.
