I turned this one ealier this week. It's 4 1/2" tall x 3 3/4, turned thin from green to final and it weighs in at a whopping 1.9 oz. I think I've had shavings that weighed more. The color's a little lighter than most of the mesquite I turn, but I like it. It's got 3 coats of danish oil so far and I'll probably add a couple more.

Oh man, er uh lady......:D......that one is really pretty. Kathy, you captured the right orientation on the grain and this is a beautiful form............fine work girl! This one, maybe because of the great curves and fine detail on the collar area, and the thinness of it, is just a cut above.

The hits just keep on coming with you........boy, I like this one a lot!

Kathy,
That grain has a lot of movement in it. The shape also adds to the nice look. Kind of like your avatar, it looks like a whirl wind. I really like the 2nd photo.

Beautiful piece Kathy. I really like this one. Great form, and balance between heartwood and sapwood.

Really, Really nice. It is seldom that I don't think to myself "nice, but probably they should have". Not in this case. Everything is exceptional. I love the fact that it has the "from all sides" sculptural quality.

Sweet! Nice wood and great orientation. The form on this is wonderful. I love the flair at the rim. First rate in every respect.

Kathy, that is an exceptional piece...I love it. What HF tools if any do you use for this size piece. In time I will want to turn a hollow form and I think this size is just right for my first try. Thanks for sharing...

Kathy,

I really like the way that you oriented the wood and the form is excellent.

Very beautiful piece! For some reason, this one puts off an aura that makes me want to pick it up and hold it.

That is absolutely georgous. Amazing how the simplest form and grain can create such a draw to its beauty.

Thanks everyone!
It started as just a little quickie after work one night, but I really like how it turned out. It's one of those pieces that everytime I walk by, I have to stop, pick it up and hold it. Just a simple form and finish from an average piece of wood, but it sure has some likeability factor,

Paul, I used my Jamieson hollowing rig for this one (and most every other one I do), I will occasionally use a hand held hollower for a small form, but my Jamieson is much easier on my hands so I use it almost exclusively.

Very pretty wood and the form is about as nice as they get IMO Kathy. Something about this one seems to call for a smaller opening to be completely stunning.

Wow what a beauty! The grain reminds me of the clouds around Mars.
