I turned these bowls for a donation to a charity auction. They came out of a branch that blew off our Russian Olive tree. I decided to make the following illustration to explain the term natural edge bowl.

Nice looking bowls. I like the wood grain in them. What finish did you use?
Good luck at the auction!

Finished with one application of BLO, 2 coats of shellac, and several of WOP. I haven't polished them up yet. Plan to do that today and deliver them.

I have several more pieces of Russian Olive. All of it from a large branch that came down last spring. I coated the bigger pieces with anchor seal but just tossed a lot of fairly good sized chunks on the firewood pile. There appears to be very little cracking in those pieces so I will be turning more of it.
