I have a customer who is asking me to cut CR39 (optical grade plastic). A few articles on the net suggest that this can be done and the CO2 laser is the next best tool to cut optical lenses made out of CR39. Does anyone have any experience here they can share on this subject?

Khalid

CR39 is a form of polycarbonate, so *might* share the same problems - brown bubbly edge to the cut and lots of sticky orange smoke residue.

The easy way is to try it - finding an old pair of specs to cut cannot be hard!
