My trip down the neander woodworking path took a hit today. I picked up a Dewalt 788 20" scroll saw, type 1, with a stand on casters and a magnifying light from Craigslist for $150. I had a chance to run it and it seemed really smooth. I almost passed on it because it is factory reconditioned but figured what the heck. I've always wanted to try a few things with one.

I paid $250 for mine(a type 1 as well, Made in Canada) not including gas and tolls as well as the 5-6 hour drive both ways.

You suck.

I know the guys with a CNC laser machine would call a scroll saw neander. I mean to them why cut it yourself, when a computer can do it for you. But would a hardcore neander who uses no power tools whatsoever call it neander?

Oh, oh. Deja Vu all over again. A buddy and I were talking about these saws just tonight. We both picked them up at Lowes a few years back, plus one for his son. It was one of those clearance deals. Canadian made, with stand. $200. We found them because of a fellow Creeker posting it. The Sawmill world went wild for a week or so, all over the country.

You got a great deal at $150, Paul. Congrats.

I keep looking for one at a good price and will have to keep looking.

As others have said - you suck - congratulations.
