Wood I.D.

I found a fresh cut limb on the side of a vacant lot. Had to through it in the trunk. "leafsnap" picked out about 20 maybe's. Elm looked the closest based on the leaf. Anybody I.D. this for me?

It is an elm for sure, not for sure which one but my guess is American Elm.

I agree the leaf is American Elm, and the bark looks right for elm. The heart wood is quite a bit darker than what I am used to seeing in Elm from around here, but that may be the photo lighting or the soil conditions, or perhaps my memory.
