You need to clear out your PM box. I can't reply to your question. Anyway,Enco and Victor Machinery Exchange in Brooklyn,N.Y. both sell tool steels at reasonable prices. Especially check Enco. 1/8" will be fine. You will get Sheffield steel cheaper than Starrett,but modern steels are carefully formulated,and Sheffield will be fine. Some insist on paying more for Starrett,but the chemistry is the same.

Joe,after I typed out a long answer,I could not send it because your messages are full again. I think I've said as much as I can about the green wood problem anyway.

I'm really sorry about that. I don't understand, I've been erasing some messages as I've gone along, but I guess not enough. I wish there would be some notification on my part so people wouldn't waste time writing, or some auto-draft system to save the messages.
