As a regular visitor to this site, I thought I'd share this with like minded turners. I originally posted this in the Australian Woodturning Forum.

In my thread Wave Grooves, I was asked if I could show how the grooves are made. The grooves are made with a cobbled together contraption constructed from old lathe parts and bits and pieces I had on hand and could adapt to get the job done. It's somewhat agricultural in it's appearance and despite little to no expense involved in it's construction, it works reasonably well. Powered by a car windscreen wiper motor, here it is.

Amazing!! Very creative, well executed. Looks a lot better than " somewhat agricultural in appearance." Thanks for sharing.

A real piece of work. It took a lot of designing and fabricating to get that job done. Nicely done video.

Well done Fred. Looks like winner. So was the music. The bowls are good looking also. I would love to see a few more pictures of the lidded bowl with the twisted wire, especially the joint. Is that possible? .......... Jerry (in Tucson)

Fred, that's an awesome contraption!!! That's started the gears turning, I'm gonna have to start figuring out how to build one, that's the cleverest design I've seen. I can see spending hours playing with that, and you've done some amazing work with it! Too Cool!!!

Very clever. Probably as much fun to make as it is to use.

I also really liked the guitar work. Who is it?????

Thanks, Fred. I've been scratching my head for months trying to figure out how you did that. It's pure genius. You really think outside the box (or the bowl in this case). Thanks for sharing.

It's Pearl Jam - Yellowledbetter

Neil,
Thanks. I have heard of them, but not familiar with their music. Definite Jimi/Stevie Ray Vaughn influences.

Reed-It may sound familiar because the guitar part is "supposed" to be a tribute to Jimi Hendrix and his intro riff in the song "Little Wing." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THP5xJSD83c&feature=player_embedded

Fredo, Amazing work, and unique too, thanks for sharing - think I may have to pinch a windscreen motor from somewhere... (Oh, and get a lathe that runs that slow...)

Glenn,
Very familiar with Hendrix. Unfortunately I can only play like him in my dreams.

Maybe there is still time for me to be a rock and roll star......

Robo-Being a southpaw is the only thing I have in common with Jimi! :(

Thanks everyone for your interest and comments. It was fun to make and operate. It adds another option to external decoration.

For those interested in the music it is an instrumental cover of Pearl Jam's Yellow Ledbetter.

For those interested, here's a link to my photo album with many other turnings I've attacked in one way or another with a router: Album (http://www.woodworkforums.com/members/15844-fredo/albums/fredo-s-turnings/)
