I recentlly did a few jobs and wanted to accent the engraving and use some rub-n-buff. Problem I'm having is it seems to dry and I have a heck of a time buffing it off (if I can get it all off). Does anyone have any advice or am I doing something wrong?

I thought I might be engraving too deep and that was causing inconsistent results but the rub-n-buff seems to be drying on top of the finished layer. Last item I engraved was a wine box from JDS industries. Engraved the top and tried some rub-n-buff to make the engraving pop, but ended up nearly rubbing the finish off. Tried some DNA to clean up and started to lift the finish on the box.

Thanks for any advice.

Use turpentine to either thin it or for clean up.

I use bronze 0000 wool does not scratch the glass and cleans it off fast I use it on all my glasses removes the rough edge.

Rodney is right--turps or mineral spirits are both solvents for Rub n Buff.

Another trick that works really well for us. A 2x3 marble base, paper towels and a can of WD-40
