I'm looking into buying the Rotex 125 but i am having trouble deciphering what the difference is between the two. If anyone would like to tell me which grade they use and why it could help me make my choice.;)Thank you

As per Mr. Marino I stick with the brilliant.
This is a non sterated paper and combined with
the festool dust collection lasts forever.
I hope this helps.
Ps
I have not used the rubin.

Bernie,

Of all the Festool items in need of a more detailed explanation, it's the abrasives. Hopefully, this will be addressed very soon. Both are non-sterated, aluminum oxide. The Rubin is a garnet colored abrasive, with a heavy cloth backing, in grits from 24 trough 180, better suited to unpainted woods. The Brilliant is a lighter weight, grayish paper with grits from 40 through 1200, suited for woods either painted, varnished or raw. I have used both series interchangeably in the medium grit range (80 - 150) and have not noticed any diifference.

I'm with Bob on this one. I've used both (not on a Rotex) on my 150/5 and, using dust collection with either, makes the paper last a long, long time. I can't really tell the difference going between one and the other.

I have used both ---like the brilliant best. Festools are great .
