out of round bowl

I turned the inside and carved away the outside and inside a little. It really needs to be more oblong to match the interior grain. There are some nice, wierd little knots on it. Catalpa 5 1/4" x 5 3/4" x 3 1/8" tall. I actually kind of like the smell of Catalpa.

The grain is insane!!
I love the orientation Deane! With some of the fun stuff...well, it's out of round on occasion. I'd send that off to the gallery and move on. Pat on the back x3 for ya!

Nice one Deane.......I actually like catalpa once it is dry...........not much fun til then as it can be a bit spongy. When dry it has pretty grain, and sanding is a bit of a challenge, but when done, it is really stable.

Good looking bowl Deane. I like turning Catalpa. As was said kinda of a bear to sand but sure is pretty wood.
