Porter cable discontinued their model 121 portable oss:mad: The piece I'm sanding is too big to use on a stationary oss. Been searching for a solution, but found none. Any ideas anyone?? Sanding the edge must be perpendicular to the face of the piece which is 3 inches thick.

A quick look at ebay shows that you can buy the 121 for around $250. That would be a handy tool when you needed it. If your table is squarish in shape, you could always use a hand plane or sheet sander (held on the diagonal for better support).

If you do get the PC OSS you can always turn it into a "standard" OSS by using the plate Woodhaven makes.

How about a drum sander in a handheld drill: http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=1268&source=googleps&utm_source=GoogleBase&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=Google?

If you had a right angle drill, that might even be comfortable to use!

Well, I bought the one on ebay. Looks brand new, will know in a few days. Thanks for the replies.
