Well, with the new lathe coming I needed to build a new tool rack and get started cleaning things up. This is the beginning of my new tool rack. I plan on adding a hinged panel on the left to hold more tools and I'll rebuild the one next to the window. I also plan on making a mount for the Glaser MiniQR's on the wall on the left. To the right of the window will be a mount for my Keith Clark steady rest. ( the closer to the lathe the better, it's heavy.) Once the Jet comes out, I'll get everything under and behind the lathe out and all clear. So anyway, here's the beginning of my tool rack remodel.

Nice racks Bill! Are you sure you are going to have room for that monster lathe though?

My friend, everything else will find a new location if necessary:D. My problem is getting the 908lb lathe up the one step into the shop, then moving it into place. Where's the bionic man when you need him?

Nice racks filled with nicer Glasers, Bill.

Thanks Harvey, I think your rack has more Glaser's than mine.:DSlowly weeding out the old tools. My BIL is getting the 1442 lathe on loan so he can jump into the Vortex. I'll loan him the old tools too until the Vortex has a solid grip on him.

Those are some nice racks Bill, BUT the tools are a big thumbs up.

Thanks Russell. The more organized I get, the more I want to turn. My shop is small so I need to compartmentalize as much as possible. My idol of organization is H.O. Studley. I'll never be set up as amazingly as he was but his tool chest is truly inspiring. It makes me think into the future of my tool storage, not just the present needs.

Bill, if you ever do build a Studley style tool rack..........make sure you post it! That was an incredible tool box that H.O. Studley built!

Can you believe it was almost 100 years before the figured out exactly where every tool went? That tool chest is one of those rare works of art in history that should be held in the same regard as the Mona Lisa IMO.
