You get 95% done with a project, and it all goes down hill. I just about finished these four buisness card holders and when I was doing the roundovers on the router table, 3 out of the 4 were ruined by tear out. I guess I should have done something different after the first, but I'm stubborn. I probally should have used some other method of rounding them over. I feel absolutly terrible.

Hey don't sweat it. They still look pretty cool.

By the way, I enjoyed your visit yesterday. Keep up the good work.

I like your choice of woods. Is that zebrawood and purpleheart? Doing that quality of work, I have no doubt you will find a solution to the tearout. Maybe a sled they clamp to, so you could climb cut them?

Hey Thanks Ernie, I enjoyed the visit also. You live and learn

Zebrawood and bloodwood. I tried climbcutting on one. Still tearout. I guess the bloodwood is bad about that. At least I got one good one left. I had intended to only make one and give it out, but I went ahead and made four, while I was at it.

Beautiful wood and nicely done. The roundover will bite the end grain...You need to back it with a scrap so the router thinks it is the middle ...or handtools or sandpaper....a fine rasp or file.

Wes...Don't feel bad...it's a lesson learned...and making these ain't as simple as people think. When I made one for DRLOML's graduation I ended up using mostly hand tools. I tried to make the first one out of one peice of wood and using electrons...and it blew up.

Bob, It's hard to see because of my junk camera, but I've circled the chipout, there's no fixing this one.

Wes...Try trimming off the lid straight across with a plane (backer and viced) and glueing a piece on. Use the same wood or the light one and it will look fine imho.

You sound like a man of conviction who sticks to your guns! ;)

The card holders still look good from the pics! Self forgiveness was one of my first wwing lessons! :o
