Last year I pulled up the carpet in my show room and there was a huge hole in the floor where a heat register used to be so I filled the hole with a large compass rose made from 16 12"x12" tiles. Lately I have been wanting to do something similar but want to do an entire world map on my porch which is about 8'x10' and I don't really want to draw the map form scratch. I am wondering if anyone knows of where I could find a large vector world map(the more decorational the better)?

Not too "decorational" but it is the map of the world and laser ready.... http://www.instructables.com/id/The-World-Puzzle-How-to-learn-your-countries-the/

Try your CorelDraw clipart CD's, I do remember seeing some fairly detailed world maps and some basic maps in the collection in various versions over the years. All of these will be vector.

It's better then what I have so far, at least the one you link to has the countries labeled.

I will have to take a look.

A great source for old maps is http://www.davidrumsey.com/ I'm not sure how high their artwork can be enlarged, since most of it is raster art, but a cool site to look around.

Those are the types of maps I am looking for. Just wish they were in vector.

Any idea on how to get the images from there to corel? So far all I can get are the tiny thumbnails.

Edit: I got it to work had to register first. Opening the documents in there largest setting causes them to open up in corel about 14 feet wide so the detail is pretty good.

Just tile it in corel's output dialog box. Show us photos when you've got it done. Good Luck!

I decided against going with the full size map because I don't really want to take on the project of laying the tile yet. So here is what I came up with. I plan to hang it in my show room inside of a little cubby. And the ceramic one is one that has been in my floor for a little over a year and seems to be standing up without any problem what so ever.228173228174228175228176228177

Also this was my first time ever using marble. I want to try another one using white marble and then dying it but I don't know if that will work.
