Does anyone what kind of joinery is used in painting canvas frames?
How do I do it?

These are often called stretcher bars so you might find more information searching by that name. I would think that you could do it on a TS with a tenoning jig, but I'm certainly no joinery expert.

Edit: This method uses a band saw - http://www.ehow.com/how_7824772_make-interlocking-canvas-stretcher-bars.html

If you are building your own, that CNC joinery is not necessary. Many simpler designs will work fine.

Hi Steven,

I have made a number of these for canvas paintings by just using pocket screws.

(not answering your q, just sharing what has worked fine for me)

(oops - as I was typing I see Sam referenced a great link - not much more to add)

I appreciate everyones help.

I found out it's cheaper to buy the canvas than making your own.
