OK, OK, so it's not a "girl," more of a gloat, but SHE sure is sweet! And she has a pair of.... horsepowers that won't quit!

And as I'm not a fan of mayonnaise at all, I hereby dub my new lathe as "Vanilla"!

Here it is unimpeded by the PhotoShop process... still trying to figure out where to set it.

(JohnK - that light colored phenomenon on the rails and floor is called "sawdust" - not much, granted, but sawdust nonetheless!)

This just so wrong in so many ways. LMAO though. I've been on a 1442 for years and it's served me very well. I think you'll love this machine and it'll run for ever. Congratulations.

What's wrong with pink? I have a pink vacuum cleaner:D so I see nothing wrong with a pink lathe!

I thought the Jet would be replacing the Craftsman in the background....

Congrats on the new lathe. You're going to enjoy it. I know I'm enjoying my 1642...

Now I wonder if I've got any pink spray paint...

Of the 2 images, I'm not clear about which is before and which is after? (;-O)

Pink is a bad choice for a lathe color, you may have to fight the wife off of it to use it. Congrats on the lathe!!!

Congrats, Steve! While you brag about having actual "sawdust" on the lathe and floor, the real story here is that you turned that form from a 100lb. blank with only four tablespoons of dust. I am surprised no one picked up on that. IMPRESSIVE!!

All this time and you pulled it off. SWEET! Now you just need 5k in tools to go with it.

Thanks all. Thought you might get a chuckle with the pink theme. I suppose I could go with a pink paint job in tribute to my sister, a BC survivor, but I can address that in other ways.

The buy has been in the works for a few months. Thanks to those who answered some PMs from me during that time, especially Russell who let me come by and do some hands on time with his 1642. About the time the profit sharing check showed up, Jet announced a 15% off sale. Talked to my local Woodcraft & Rockler and got their bottom line price, then called Sean at ToolNut, who beat their price by about $120 delivered. But in the end, I didn't want the hassle of fighting with a truck delivery - which surely would not have made it up the front hill and then around back to the basement door; so I got it from Woodcraft, who supports our woodturning guild and penturner meets. WC also threw in a mobile base, so I can put my jointer on wheels and get it out of the way - 8 sq ft of extra shop space makes a big difference!

A couple of you spotted the Craftsman behind the Jet. Not sure what to do with that - it was my dad's, so has a lot of sentimental value - might make a good buffing station, but will need a new stand in another corner somewhere. But I won't miss cranking on that Reeves drive knob all the time!

turned that form from a 100lb. blank with only four tablespoons of dust. Very observant, John. Trying to learn from the master. ;^}

Now you just need 5k in tools to go with it. By the time I can afford that, Russell, they'll cost $15k... :^{

Steve, Where are you in Marietta? At least we have two things in common, we're both Steve and we both live in Mayretta. I think the pink is kind of cool but might not be my first choice:)
