Just picked up another of those cheapo B&D 7604 routers, this one for $10. That makes a total of four, and still looking. I will put a laminate trim bit in it, and leave it set up that way. It really comes in handy having one all set up to make a quick pass on a project.

1/4" roundover, 1/8" roundover, small ogee, and laminate trimmer....all grab and go. I love these little routers, they have ring handles on both sides, so you can hold them like a D-Handle, and they don't take up much more space than a laminate trimmer. The most I have ever paid for one used was $20, and that was a never used one in the box. I have had one I bought new ($26...years ago) in a small portable router table, that I have used quite a bit, and it seems to be holding up just fine.

No big deal, just a tiny score.

it's a circle cutting jig but i also have several dedicated routers so i don't have to switch bits. those adorable little PC 690's show up on craigslist all the time too...

Hmmm, that's a new on for me, never heard of it called a Jasper jig. However one can not have just a single circle cutting jig as they're are so many possibilities. My largest to date is 9' long;) Therefore you'll have to keep buying more routers for all the different length circle jigs too!!!

My largest to date is 9' long;)

JeffDOnly nine feet? I once did a pulpit for a church that had a 60' radius. Used threaded rod and coupling nuts to make it work.

Those aren't dedicated routers, they're competitively priced router bit holders! At least that's what I tell my wife. :) I've become partial to the PC 690's and their older predecessors, as well, as they tend to show up more often here in the price range I can't pass up.

Jasper Tools is a brand name. They make very very nice circle jigs for routers.

$40 for a PC 690? i'd say that was a solid SCORE!

As Bob Rosendahl said "you need a new router for every new bit"

a former professional cabinetmaker gave me a great piece of advice for those of us with multiple "router bit holders": build a series of small boxes near your work table so that you can just pull them out and use them.

Be very careful, this is a slippery slope......

I have about thirty routers, but I have somewhere North of three hundred router bits, so you see how this idea could become a problem.

Speaking of new routers I was about 90 miles away from the shop the other day and needed another router so I went to the Borg [don't tell] and bought a $50 Ryobi. It has headlights! What a cool idea. Router sucks, but those headlights were awesome.

I know what you mean Larry. I bought a lot of stuff from an older man who had a part time cabinet shop. Among the items I got from him were about 120 router bits, many never used, some in the packaging. As I remember, I paid about $150 for the whole batch. A lot of Amana, CMT, and Freud bits, but most were Rockler. Several sets too, like the Instile adjustable set, and also four various sizes and patterns of rosette cutters, unused. I think those alone were north of $50 each.

One of these days I am gonna go through all of these and let go of some of my many duplicates, a couple raised panel sets, pattern bits etc. I will never use them all.....just a hobbyist.
