Very colorful Mike. I think I like the closed segmented one best because the feature ring and the shoulder are higher on the piece.

I wood say you have had a very busy weekend. They both are very nice but I have to agree with Ted and like the closed segmented one best. I would think it would be easier than the open one. Both are very nice and the finish looks great.

Interesting look! I bet that stuff is dusty to work with, but it sure gives a unique appearance. Got to go with the solid one for form.

Aw come on Mike!!! What kind of wood? How big are they? What kind of finish? How many parts? Really impressed!!

Mike,

You have my admiration on many counts. Good looking vases, looks like good layout, good use of unusual material, and the list goes on. I am not a segment person, but just getting them glued up deserves a "atta boy" by itself.

Both look pretty good Mike but I like the higher shoulder on the solid form. Just seems to fit in along the lines of what I try to create when turning HFs. Sure like the interesting look you get with your wood choices and colors!

Pretty cool, Mike. The colors really look nice. What kind of plywood are you using?

Very well done. Your grain orientation is excellent and the colors really pop. Nice work.

Mike, I like your work! I wouldn't even know where to begin with an open segmented piece, let alone a closed one. I really like the lip on the first one.
