Long transition quarter round

Good morning all,
I need to transition from hardwood to vinyl over a 12' wide space. I'm certain I >could< get my hands on 12' stock, but would not be able to fit it into my car. Since I will need to do this in sections, does anyone have any suggestions on how best to join then ends of the quarter round (5/8")?

I would just tie the material to the roof. Maybe add a little duct tape to make it extra secure.

How are you going to install the transition -- finish nails? If so, put nails near the ends of the transition segments. Put them just far enough to avoid splitting the transition. If this is oak, which splits easily, you might should drill pilot holes before you nail.
