Are you looking for something "better" if so check out the "king", US made http://www.sand-rite.com/

If you want another similar option quality/cost wise http://woodworker.com/cgi-bin/fullpres.asp?partnum=120-029&utm_source=google&utm_medium=feed&gclid=CMXW07_s764CFQfCKgodrU6IMQ

There is always the option of making your own with items from places like Klingspor, they have all sorts of sanding mops, drums, flap wheels all the way up to the 10" Mac Mops like:

You can use a buffer arbor or a buffer or build your own shaft system, Shop Notes had plans I think they are in issue #117 but don't quote me. I can look if you would like.

Actually, the Grizzly and Woodtek units are rather poor designs for a flap wheel application. The Sand Rite unit runs at 1200rpm which is closer to the right speed for flap sanding. The industrial flap wheel machines run at 600 to 1000 rpm which is the proper design.

I have 2 flap wheel machines. The one I sand with is variable speed with a Sand Rite Head and gives the best results around 1000 rpm. My other machine runs about 1700 rpm but it is only used for polishing.

Think of it like sanding on a lathe, you get better results with lower rpm.

Sorry I should I mentioned in the beginning. Im only interested in sanding drum, not the flapping wheels.

Does the Woodtek Flap sander Head/ Pneumatic Drum sander (120-029) include 2 different sizes sanding drum or just 1 size?
