I turned this from a small half log that I got from Doug Swanson last summer in our big wood trade. The log was in great shape and the bark was solid, and it just begged to be a ne bowl. It's 6 1/2" x 5 1/4" x 2 1/2" with a couple coats of danish oil.

That came out great, Kathy. The sapwood sure is dark, but it makes for a very nice look.
What are you doing up so early, or up so late?????

Thanks John, the pic is a little dark but the sapwood was dark so not alot of contrast there, but it kind of gives it an old look.
I stayed home from work today, errr yesterday, and kinda slept the day away  so I'm up a little later than usual.

Kathy I like it but I'm partial to NE walnut. I find that sapwood on some are well defined and not so much on others.

Nice work again! I've still got a few pieces of that walnut left so I may have to try this when I'm done rearranging my shop....

I really like these kind of flat natural edge bowls and walnut even makes it better. Beautiful.

Beautiful Kathy. That is the darkest sap wood I have seen on Walnut. Looks great though.
