I keep thinking that I won't turn mimosa anymore but it is so pretty that I can't resist. With my cyclone collector and dust hood (Reed Gray's design), sanding this one did not cause allergy problems. It is 11-1/2" dia x 4-1/2" deep. The finish is WOP buffed to a soft shine. Comments and critiques welcome.

Dennis, I have a couple of chunks of mimosa in the barn. I will be pleased if they end up looking as nice as this!

That is a really nice bowl Dennis. I love turning mimosa. Got quite a bit from Mike Smith.

I'm glad to see what Mimosa looks like. I had always wondered and there was a lot around Tyler but never found any, and have now seen any around Fredericksburg yet. It is pretty wood and made a nice bowl.

Tom,

It must be hard to come by if you didn't find any :D

Great looking bowl. There was alot dumped out at work ready for the mulch pile and I brought a nice piece home. I hope to get to it soon. It is a pretty wood to turn as long as you get to it before it drys out. After that its like turning concrete.

Nice looking bowl Dennis. It must be a different variety than what is called mimosa around here. It grows so fast that I can't imagine it ever being like concrete.

That's got some purty grain Dennis. Glad you got through it without incident.

I did get some planks of mimosa that were from Florida, and were 18 inches wide, and more reddish in color. Most of what I see here is more brown and even grey, and also very light weight. Just doesn't feel right when you pick up a finished bowl.

Love the waves of the grain and the shape of the bowl.

I have several big mimosa bowls drying now, and like Mr. Keeton, hope they look as nice as yours. Gorgeous wood, great form.
