I am having an issue with my Rigid TS-3650 tablesaw. I figured I would ask you all for advice. When I startup my tablesaw, there is a loud squealing noise. Once the saw is up to speed, the noise disappears. The motor doesn't bog down or anything. What is causing the noise and how do I correct it?

Thanks for the input,

Keith

Is you saw belt drive or direct drive ?...Sounds like the belt need tightening if it's belt drive...

It's one of two things, belts or bearings.

If it just started happening all of sudden, then you might want to check the alignment of the pulley on the arbor with the motor. When I first assembled my TS3650, it also squealed a little on startup. I ended up doing a better job of aligning the pulleys and that took care of it. It's conceivable that the pulley on the arbor has moved. At least check pulley alignment before considering bearing replacement.

Keith,

I have a TS-3650. The first thing I would check is the belt. It sure sounds like it's slipping.

And the winner is...........the belt.
