When I was watching it all I could think was I bet this was the base vehicle for a mobile missle launcher. Sure enough it was:

I was a combat engineer in the Army and trained in the USSR era, we trained with the expectation of the theater of war being Germany and its huge number of river crossings. So being able to quickly "disable" the bridges to channel and prevent ingress was a priority of my unit and expected to make a major impact on their ability to wage war. Seeing that their corp (wheeled) units would have had this capability and more, I wonder if we weren't wasting our time!!!

I could have used a couple of those on job sites before! Extreme to say the least.

Impressive also was the size and straightness of those timbers. Virgin forests?

Looks like fun to me!

My pops had an American 6x6for his masonry business, and they were/are pretty tough customers too. Dad used it to pull down a fireplace that someone didn't pay for. That was Cool when you are a kid!

I bet they could not make it back across the river empty.....
