A while back I built a hall table with 4 sided tapered legs. The legs tapered from 2 inches square down to 1 inch square over a 29 inch length. I want to build a side table for the couch in the same style but much shorter than the hall table. The side table will be 25 inches tall instead of 37 inches tall. What is the preferred method to maintain graceful lines without making the legs of the shorter table look stumpy or thick? Do I reduce the upper portion of the legs from 2 inches or do I go with a thicker bottom of the legs than 1 inch? Is there another method?
