I made these S & P shakers for my wife. They are made from mesquite I got from Jason Clark, ebony and holly. They are about 3.5 inches tall. Both are made from blanks that were cut right next to each other in the log. It is amazing how much difference there is in the wood grain and color, even coming from so close together in the tree. I really like mesquite as a turning wood, and I'll have to find some more. C & C welcome.

Very nice. I prefer the figure in the salt shaker.

Glad to see you're putting my mesquite to good use.

Hi Brian;
Very nice design, I would guess you used Ebony for the pepper but what is the band and cap for the salt shaker?
I used a S and a P design for the holes in a couple I did in the past. Kept the holes small and drilled in the shape of each letter. I think it was 5 holes per letter.
Thanks for posting, I am sure your Wife is thrilled with these.

OOPS!!! Sorry I just re-read your post. Ebony and Holly it is! Thanks

Very nice Brian. Can we assume there is there a plug in the bottom?

What a nice set. I don't know any one that wouldn't like to have them. I may borrow the idea.

Nice shape and the color scheme is nice. I did a set awhile back and the same thing happened to me, same block different grain and color. Oh well its wood, grows on trees you know. Carl

Hi Brian;
I wanted to thank you very much for the inspiration. When I saw your shakers I just knew that I had to make a set. The design is simple, neat and elegant.
I will post a separate thread so I do not hijack your posting.
thanks again.
